Can I Have Assurance of Salvation?
Yes, you can know that eternally you will be in the presence of Almighty God. It is important for all to know what the Bible says about salvation.
We must understand that we are not perfect. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Because of this we have been separated from God and deserve death for our wickedness.Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our LORD.”
Even with all of our problems, God loves us. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
If we proclaim Jesus as Lord from our mouth, and believe it in our heart, we can be saved. Romans 10:9-10 says, “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is in your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
Salvation is not reserved for some special group of people. It doesn’t matter what sins are in your past. God’s grace is sufficient to cover all things. The Bible states in Romans 10:13, “for, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”
There is nothing that you can do of your own might in order to be saved. There is no amount of good works that can save you. The only reason that anyone is saved is because it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Hopefully, these verses will bring you to a place where you will pray for God’s forgiveness and accept Jesus as Lord of your life. It doesn’t have to be a special prayer, it only needs to be sincere. I invite you to do that now.
If you have prayed for Jesus to be your Lord, you are now a new person in Christ and I look forward to seeing you in Heaven. I encourage you to tell someone as soon as possible about your decision. You may leave a response on this site or email the editor. We would like to pray for you as you begin your journey with God. You no longer have to wonder about eternal life. You are a permanent member of God’s Kingdom. Jesus himself, in John 10:28, said, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.”
